How many extra-curricular activities in primary / prep-school?

My kids are in private school but my friends both in private and state school seem to have their kids in a huge number of activities outside of school clubs. I was wondering what's normal and if I'm just in some crazy bubble here in London!

In addition to school clubs 4 days a week, mine do an extra swim lesson externally (school also provides one a week), rainbows (on the day with no clubs) and musical theatre one morning on the weekend.

mine are y1, and the school clubs are pretty low key (arts and crafts, nature and gardening, etc.), and we aren’t particularly ‘serious’ about the other stuff either. I probably wouldn’t want to do more than we are doing now, but equally find it to be a good balance between school, fun and downtime.

I have a dc in reception who does a total of 7 extracurricular activities. Three are just 50 mins after school, two are after school at another venue, and two are on separate weekend days. School activities are run by external companies and are a bit more serious than, say, crafts run by TAs, but don't lead to anything externally accredited or anything like that. We are at a London prep and it seems fairly standard here. She also does some activities within school, which are run by visiting staff, which we might otherwise have been doing as extracurricular activities - e.g. ballet, French.

We are at state primary and DD6 does multi sport and French after school clubs put on by the school, and Rainbows and swimming separately. She keeps trying and liking assorted things at the weekend but is too tired to keep doing them and wants down time. So much depends on the child I think.

My DC typically did swimming, Scouting/Guiding and one activity at school.
2 or 3 activities seemed to be about the norm.

Although by upper primary school if DC were particularly good at something they might have a lot of sessions relating to a single activity (gymnastics was a particular time eater for those on the squad).

One in private pre-prep in the East Midlands - he does one school club (currently a craft activity) then also cricket and taekwondo out of school (taekwondo can be up to 3 x per week when leading up to a grading but generally once a week).

I have 2 boys in year 3 and 4.
They do football twice a week, Thai boxing twice a week for one three times for the other cricket once a week.
Year 4 boy has tutor once a week.
They love their sport and I'd much rather they were out in the fresh air.
I have a year 7 dd and her after school stuff has really ramped up since starting secondary she is also very sporty and is loving how many different sports and clubs she can do at her new school.

Swim, football, cricket, karate, cubs/beavers.

Plus music in school.

It's probably too much but they don't want to give anything up and at the moment it all fits in okay.

Dc1 has Swimming, rugby, football, cricket, (recently dropped gymnastics)
Dc2 has kick boxing, football (recently dropped gymnastics)

I would like them to learn music but I don't fancy any more ascs.

My 8 year old does martial arts, swimming, climbing and a multi sport club. In school they do keyboard and art club. It's a lot but sport is the one thing that keeps their anxiety at bay (but is getting Mh support at school).

My 6 year old does martial arts and multi sport. They won't do swimming lesson (but we go as a family weekly) and climbs with me when their sibling is at climbing if they come as well.

My only rule is that they do one thing that's active a week.

DS is in Year 1 at a private primary.

He does karate and chess as before-school clubs but they are only 30 mins each.

Swimming at weekends.

He's not interested in team sports.

He does after school club 4 days a week where they play wide games and things. Sometimes gymnastics for holiday club.
