Hi, could you give me more information on this school for boarding at 13? We are thinking of applying and wanted to see if anyone has information: is education too liberal or more conservative? is it international or more English? We have heard really good things but are concerned about how liberal it is vs. our more conservative background. Thanks!

When you say liberal do you mean in terms of structure and how much freedom the children get in respect of weekends/ phone use/ clothes/ time management etc ( for example Bryanston or Bedales would be considered more liberal schools in this regard) or do you mean in terms of conservative vs liberal social values because in that respect schools don’t usually take a stance. There will be children who come from families and cultures with different viewpoints.

it would probably be helpful to understand what your deal breakers are in this respect.

Thank you for your answer! I meant about education being heavily focused on gender studies and identities; just like some US schools are now teaching. I have nothing against it; but would prefer a more traditional approach to learning. Not sure if it makes sense…

Hi, from what I see as a parent they steer a mid course between the liberalism pretty much required of all big schools now and the Christian conservatism of the cathedral, which kings is effectively part of, and some conservative pupils and parents (eg the Nigerians and the catholics). Plenty of rainbow flags around but it’s not a religious school, overall, just the regular amount of hymn singing and Sunday services. The DS/DD are left to make their own judgements with lots of information and good advice, I feel, and the staff are sensible, not woke. Not that you can tell youngsters what to think, anyway. It is a protected setting in this environment beautiful site, but within a city, and they all have iPhones… neither liberal nor conservative I’d say but catering for a wide range of backgrounds.
