Yes we’re in top 5. Wren have various waiting lists. Church and Foundation taking precedence over Community. It’s a painful waiting time!!

Hi @ACS2020 if you don't mind...which school have you been offered.. out of interest?

ACS2020 · 11/07/2023 13:47

Hi, would rather not mention at this stage if that’s ok 👍

Did everyone end up getting into their school of choice in the end?
Good luck to all the Y7s!!!

Dear parents who enquire about Wren Enfield, my children are at Wren Enfield and I wish they were not. Extremely strict and for ridiculous reasons. They had not had the opportunity to even go on a school trip. 2 reflections and you are out. For example: broken ruler=reflection, running in school yard =reflection, pumping into someone else by accident = both kids reflection, your equipment not fully charged = reflection. The message with reflections because it has been overused has now evaporated and has become a joke. Very often staff changes were disappointing. Staff leaving so soon might say something too. The ofsted inspection came out as good after a long debate and a lot of back and forth if not mistaken.

Really sorry to hear your child has had such a bad experience, that must be difficult to handle. Have you raised your concerns with wren and if so how did they respond? I have heard so many conflicting experiences about the school, some broadly positive, others worryingly negative, it’s hard to know what to think. Also when the Ofsted report was finally published (over 6 months after the inspection date) it was initially graded as ‘Requires Improvement’. Within 24hrs this was changed to ‘Good’ but it made me think, is this just an admin mistake by Ofsted or is there more behind it?…..

Nik4775 · 09/10/2023 17:53

Dear JE1985 I do not think it was an admin error at all. I think the first rating was recorded as opposed to the after long debate one.
Having tried on more than one occasion to raise concerns, I gave up. The responses were somewhat inappropriate not to say rude. Also both children said "do not say anything as this comes back at us" we will be getting inclusion. I guess the only way to safely report is as soon as children leave the school and Ofsted.
Do not get me wrong they do have some really good teachers that really stand out (as long as they stay that is).

It's about putting some things into perspective
Is it a safe school? Yes (if you ignore psychological trauma to students that have been unfortunate to be lively)
Is there bullying amongst students? No.
Do students feel they can speak their mind? No.
Do they have a student life? No
Do they learn? We will find out soon enough!

What other options are available in Enfield? Not many good ones? Is this the best option amongst the rest?

I sincerely hope you have better lack and your child enjoys whichever school goes to.

I know it is an old thread, but I was wondering how are your kids getting on at Wren now. Has anything changed?
We are considering Wren, but we were not very impressed when we went to the open morning and principal's speech. The students did not seem very happy. Thanks in advance
