My son loves maths! But his school don't really push him much in the area as he is too far ahead of his peers. He is in year 3.

If he loved dancing, sport or drama, I'd know exactly what to do to help him develop and pursue his passion outside of school, but I don't think there are any options out there for maths clubs or similar.

I used to love maths myself but no idea where to go with it now to help him find more challenges he would love.

I wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of a franchise, or app, or website that might be of interest for him, or share your experience of having a maths enthusiast yourself and how you supported them.

Carol Vorderman’s maths factor is great - it follows the curriculum and goes all the way through primary school.

The Sumaze primary maths app (free) has some lovely puzzles

How odd, my son is exactly the same. He loves the Maths Factor. Carol explains things really well. He also enjoys Scratch coding, might be one to look at (not strictly maths).

My son went to our local Kip McGrath centre in Y3. He was working at a Y6 level at that age and needed stretching. They did loads of enrichment stuff, puzzles, codes, quizzes etc so he was challenged, but not completely bored at school, who didnt have the capacity to do much more than suggest he played chess if he was bored...!

I love mindyourdecisions on YouTube. Some very tricky, varied problems.

Perhaps a little soon but Simon Singh parrallel is the perfect thing.

Check out the Primary Maths Challenge for questions that use their maths skills with more interesting questions:

the Sumaze apps look interesting - thanks Noble for pointing them out. What ages have you used them with? The primary one says ages 4-7, and then there's a big gap until the next one that is 14+. Are any of them accessible for upper KS2/lower KS3? And are they any good for those struggling with maths to learn in a more game-like way, or are they mostly good for those who want to push on?

Thanks for all these suggestions! I've looked up all of them and have lots of ideas now.

For primary age kids with a mathematical streak there is nothing else like beast academy. It is specifically designed for kids with a strong flair/talent/interest in maths.
