So, tell me oh wise teachers, do you ever switch off?

My mother is a retired head teacher. She has taught for 40 odd years, but has been retired from teaching for 5 years.

She's just been round and her gdd, was keen to show her some work that she'd done at school. Her drama teacher was really impressed with her intro to a play and said some lovely things about it. She has already shown me and dh and is really quite proud of it. Mother looks at it and picked bloody holes in the grammar and punctuation! I could see it wasn't the greatest on punctuation, but I wasn't about to burst her bubble fgs! She does it all the time!

Just hacked me off!

Truth be told, there are indeed a sizable number of very irritating teachers who can't help picking fault.

Roll your eyes, chew gum and tell her she talks pants whenever she acts like a teacher.

I've just noitced she's bloody corrected it, as well! Talk about rain on your parade. Poor kid, was so pleased to be told by her teacher, 'you'll go far with writing like that' and she's bloody marked it!

ask her is she's heard of formative assessment, two stars and a wish

Make her feel past it

MaureenMLove · 06/02/2008 17:42

I'll try that, but I fear she is too old to change now!

you don't want her to change. Just get her to feel she doesn't know it all
