Hi - just wondering if anyone who sat DC 11+ this year has received an interview offer yet? Our DS is state school primary. Aware some children from the private primaries have received interview offer. Curious as to whether any state school families have? Thanks!

An offer for us too. My son is delighted!

Daydreamscometrue · 10/02/2023 18:25

@AuntieStella Thank you very much for the information!

Daydreamscometrue · 10/02/2023 18:26

@AuntieStella Are there lots of sports fixtures on a Saturday? Keen for DS to be busy on a Saturday.

Londonintherain · 10/02/2023 20:30

There are tons of sports fixtures on Saturday mornings. I have 2 boys at DC and they love it, and so do I. Have had incredible experiences there with both. Quality of education, clubs for everything, and amazing pastoral care. It’s a lovely place, let me know if you want more info on DC.

LoveBlueCheese · 11/02/2023 07:24

Hello!

Mind if I ask if there are many kids from North or Central London at DC? We live near Canary Wharf and sch bus comes to where we are.

Londonintherain · 11/02/2023 11:38

I’m not sure about north London, but definitely lots from central, west and east. I think if you look at the bus routes you get a sense of where many live. The coach network is good but early for us, so eldest now chooses to take the tube and train to West Dulwich, if that’s any good for you it’s very convenient.

MaryBoppins · 12/02/2023 15:58

Does anyone know if Dulwich does any kind of offer holder event? Would be very interested in going if so.

Daydreamscometrue · 12/02/2023 19:01

@MaryBoppins we were wondering the same

WNLastX · 12/02/2023 19:30

I don't think they do. So I'm going to get in touch on Monday and see if we can get look round with our son, as he didn't even get a chance to go on the Open Day. Worried they might get inundated with requests though!

Seems odd not to hold one tbh.

MaryBoppins · 12/02/2023 19:44

I think we are going to chose Dulwich. He had offers from 3/3 schools we applied to, so we are in a very fortunate position but Dulwich has the edge for us. We'd love to go and have a look around with an offer in hand though. I am also wondering what happens before September to those who take up the offers. I wonder if they arrange anything before the first day of term. It's all quite real now! Anyone else thinking of accepting Dulwich?

WNLastX · 12/02/2023 20:20

The information packs in the offer mail have quite a lot of info. The Year 7 boys come in early at the end of the summer holidays for some induction days, and at some point in the first term they head off to Wales for bonding activities.

Daydreamscometrue · 12/02/2023 21:31

We're deciding between Dulwich and LU.

Daydreamscometrue · 13/02/2023 09:25

@WNLastX let us know if the school respond to a request for a visit!

ChnandlerBong · 13/02/2023 09:39

DS is now y13 so slightly out of date but the ethos really hasn't changed so hope still valid.

The admissions staff and the Head of Lower School were all super helpful post offer. They answered emails quickly and the Head of LS spoke to me a few times on the phone while we were considering the offer. He showed us round with ds, and that was what really sold it to us. Give them a ring!

MrsHGWells · 13/02/2023 12:52

We chose DC over 4 other attractive offers and have not looked back. DC school thrives on diversity and inclusion, with the school providing ample opportunities for every boy. Clubs, sports and the week school residential and being well feed with hot lunches (Yr7&8) all inclusive - bring all the boys together no matter background or primary school.

The sports coaches and teaching staff provide strong pastoral care and well being - bringing out the best of your son. We couldn’t make the open day offers at the time, but simply called and made arrangements for a one on one tour & any questions answered.

dm if you have any questions.

Daydreamscometrue · 14/02/2023 17:33

Has anyone arranged to see Dulwich again?

WNLastX · 14/02/2023 17:59

I have yet to ring as we are completely caught up with half-term things, haven't had a chance to do much this week. Probably have time some time tomorrow.

Daydreamscometrue · 14/02/2023 20:49

@WNLastX I emailed later this afternoon to see if we could pop in. I'll update if I get a reply.

Daydreamscometrue · 15/02/2023 21:59

We're going to see Dulwich next week.

WNLastX · 16/02/2023 01:17

Yes we are too, I gave them a ring this afternoon. Seemed happy to have us come and see them again.

Daydreamscometrue · 17/02/2023 18:58

@WNLastX which schools are you choosing between?

WNLastX · 17/02/2023 22:25

@Daydreamscometrue Only Whitgift and Dulwich now. DS loves W, but he never saw D at open day. D is within walking distance or a 10 min cycle. W is 35 mins on the bus, longer by car in rush hour.

I liked W too at both open day and interview day. D seemed quite old fashioned at Open Day but I really warmed to them and the Head on interview day.

D always seemed like a bit of a long shot too, even though they are academically similar, which meant I was a little less receptive at the Open Day, not trying to get excited by it if it was out of our league. Wanted to see it again now that it's a firm offer.

Daydreamscometrue · 24/02/2023 22:11

Have people decided to take the Dulwich offer?

MaryBoppins · 25/02/2023 16:49

Yes, keen on Dulwich and son loves it. What about you?!

Daydreamscometrue · 25/02/2023 16:52

@MaryBoppins we only saw Dulwich for the first time yesterday and so still deciding between D and LU. Really impressed though.
