We are moving back to the UK next summer and currently looking at schools around the Harrogate area. Does anyone have any experience of Harrogate Ladies college that they be happy to share?
Thank you

Hi OP, if you are thinking of living in the Harrogate area you would be mad to part with your hard earned money to send the dds to HLC. There are excellent state options in the area for nothing, though you may need to pick where you live carefully.
If religious go for St Aidans, location less important than church involvement,
Harrogate Grammar has a recent ofsted outstanding, very over subscribed so check carefully on location, Ripon Grammar is still actually selective and would be another great free choice. I would happily send a kid to any of them, though Harrogate Grammar would be my preferred option of the three.

if you are desperate to pay then far better to put them on the bus down to GSAL on the outskirts of Leeds, or on the train to St Peters in York.

@HarrogateLadiesCollege I have reported your post.
This is not the way school marketing departments should behave. Please don't do this.
It's crass and shows a lack of both class and understanding of the market.

@lenalemonade and MUCH more classy independent schools who don't think "mumsnet: need to be on it with our username to answer any post with an invite to visit" 😆🙈

Did a double take on that! So weird.

My daughter went to Harrogate Ladies college and has now left. They have an issue with bullying that isn’t well dealt with because the school lacks discipline. It is a very small school and numbers are down so the year groups are very small with only around 20-30 in a year. This is an disadvantage as there’s no where to go if you don’t get along with another child especially as they don’t deal very well with girls that are disruptive.
It seems that they are now trying to attract foreign girls to board as they bring more money, which is fine but this creates little cliques as they there is very little interaction between the groups of girls.
We also found the facilities to be very tired and old and needing investment, parts of the school were run down and dated.
There are much better school options in Harrogate such as Ashville College where my daughter is now and is very happy, they have a new head who is very experienced and forward thinking and the facilities are excellent. There are also very good state school options in Harrogate.
