Would be appreciated

There are hundreds of them
Do you want to narrow it down a bit?

Are you the y11 likely to have to move from an independent school? Your parents would need to apply to the LA for a school with a suitable space, you won't have a free choice. Might be worth looking for one using the same exam boards but you may find your subject choices do not fit the timetabling,

LA is Local Authority. You apply for a state school through the LA for the borough you live in - but you can apply to any schools. You don't have to just go for ones in your borough.

What do you recommend I do

Unlikely anyone here will have specific enough knowledge, you may need to go through each website. LA is the local authority/council who manage school applications. Yours is an In Year application so you/parents can read up on the process but schools may be reluctant to take a year 11 so late. Has your current school agreed to let you sit exams there? Your alternative might be a "crammar" , a private college which does intensive gcse courses and resits.

Your so helpful thank you
My school is helping me to relocate somewhere else alongside the LA
Another thing, my mum is extremely disappointed with me is there anything to better the situation?

If you Google 'Secondary Schools' in your borough there will be a full list on the council's website. Have a look on the websites for your neighbouring boroughs too so you can see what schools are also there. Once you have a list of schools the best place to start is to look at ones that you can actually travel too. There's no point applying for a school that will take you 2 hours by 4 buses to get there.
Once you have a list you can narrow it down. Look at the website for each school. See what they offer. See what you like the look of. Contact the schools for a visit so you can talk to the head.
Your parents are the ones that have to make the application though.

Tbh I'm not surprised she is disappointed, you need to demonstrate you have listened and taken responsibility. Ask her for support on the transfer. I think you would get a better response by updating your previous thread as the title of this one "Schools" is too vague to attract much attention.

Fluffyowl00 · 09/12/2022 20:50

Ahh you know she loves you really.

  • stack and unpack the dishwasher for a week
  • Give her a big hug when she’s not expecting it
  • Write her a card or a letter
I haven’t read your other thread but I’ve been a teacher for 16 years and your GCSEs are down to your determination and effort level . It doesn’t matter which school you are in. (And I’ve seen students move up 4 grades between mocks and real exams.)

Good luck.

PS say sorry and mean it.

LIZS · 09/12/2022 20:54

In the state system it might be referred to as a Managed Move but not sure that applies when the previous school is independent.
