any recommendations please? i really need a help on this matter! My son is 6, he is in prep school which he can attend next year (7+). i searched online a lot but all independent schools requires assessment for entry. We can afford private education but couldn’t find anywhere he can enrol without assessments. He is bright child, so quite and friendly. But because of Autism I do not think he will be anle to complete the test - we make practise at home and he can not focus to finish the test. He needs small classes and attention so I don’t want him to go to state. He Likes to work in quite environment. Please give me a idea what to do, which school to go please xxxx

There have been a few other threads that might have some schools that are worth looking at
www.mumsnet.com/talk/education/4590033-non-selective-private-schools-in-london-that-put-happiness-first
and
www.mumsnet.com/talk/education/1130896-List-of-fantastic-non-selective-state-cheaper-private-schools-for-boys-coed-in-around-London

  • these aren't specifically about schools for children with autism though.

Assessment isn't the same as being academically selective though. Even nonselective schools will have some kind of process to get to know your child before offering a place. Talk to the schools, and don't dismiss them just because they have an assessment. Even selective schools have to offer appropriate reasonable adjustments to enable children with disabilities to access their services, so the right school will be happy to adjust how they do the assessment in order to enable your DC to participate. Obviously you don't want a high pressure hothouse so any school not prepared to make adjustments is the wrong school.

A friend of mine really recommends The Hall in Wimbledon. It is non-selective. Best of luck.
