Party bags?

Having a party for DD (5) invited the whole class + a few friends & family. It is at a soft play center the children get 2 hours play + lunch/ cake It's £15ppchild. Is it necessary to do party bags? I've priced it up to be just over £50 ontop of the £300 the party is already costing.

small bag of haribo, a lolly and slice of cake would be fine. Or look on eBay/Amazon for paper airplanes/plastic bracelets but remember not good for environment

I think at 5 they do expect something - but take a look at the 10 for £10 books at The Works or similar: some cake and a lucky dip for a book is always a great alternative, and much better for the environment! DD went to a party around that age and at the end they all got some cake and one of those ceramic bird whistles that makes a sound when you fill it with water. Other ideas: pack of seeds each? Punch balloons? A cheap ball or football each?

Yes do a little party bag, it doesn’t need to cost much and children love them. I get things online like little pots of bubbles and little squishy toys, stickers, some sweets from the supermarket and a slice of cake.

Tesco do great multipacks of things for party bags, little notepad, pencil, bouncy balls, bubbles, bracelets etc, and not too expensive.

I did sweetie cones, can get a pack of clear plastic cone bags on amazon, then sweets from Poundland and fill yourself.

A few sweets, piece of the birthday cake and a 30p type toy. Sorted for easily less than £50.

Yes I think children that age do expect it. I’d do a piece of cake and a book from The Works deal.

A little pack of sweets, a slice of cake and perhaps a little toy (but not necessarily) shouldn't cost more than £10 (not including cost of cake)

Yes kids will expect something but DD went to a party where they could choose a small book and a small packet of sweets from to boxes which I thought was lovely compared the usual plastic tat.

Do party bags. You’ll be glad you have them when it’s time for the party to end.
