Define English..
If you mean English speaking, you’ve got the UK, Ireland, Canada, America, Australia etc.
If you mean the English system of education, then I doubt it.

AnApparitionQuipped · 29/10/2022 23:26

Where are you based at present, OP?

MultiTulip · 29/10/2022 23:38

Do you mean in non-English speaking countries? There are some, eg the Netherlands has some bilingual schools and also some international schools which are state funded and fairly cheap. Obviously there are loads of English speaking countries with free schooling for residents though, so it’s an odd question!

Mydogatemypurse · 29/10/2022 23:56

Im english living in english wanting a new start preferably in europe but school fees are biggest hurdle.

Yes my children are English. I would need them to go to an English speaking school xx

Well, if you move to another country you and your children will need to learn the language anyway.

Medoca · 29/10/2022 23:59

Usually your firm pays for schools if you’re relocating. Word of warning, you’ll have a child with an odd accent if you put them into international school (this is from experience!).

New Zealand !

Apileofballyhoo · 30/10/2022 00:01

What age are your DC? They'd pick up a second language pretty quickly if they are young.

Mislou · 30/10/2022 00:01

Oh you want Europe.
Gibraltar?

Mydogatemypurse · 30/10/2022 00:02

They are 11 and 7.

Malta. Schools are free, you just buy all their equipment.
Taught mostly in English but there are Maltese lessons too, obviously.

LizzieAnt · 30/10/2022 00:06

Schools in Ireland require students to take Irish as a compulsory subject alongside their other subjects. There are some exemptions depending on age of the student if transferring from another country. Just so you know, in case Ireland is one of the English speaking countries you're considering...

I think that England would be your best option then. It’s a country in Europe which has many excellent English schools, both state and private. If you are already resident in England you are free to move and live throughout the country, and indeed the rest of the U.K.

Whataretheodds · 30/10/2022 00:11

Malta
Gibraltar
Australia
Canada
New Zealand
USA
Ireland

Needmorelego · 30/10/2022 00:11

What languages can you speak @Mydogatemypurse ?
What type of job do you do? Will you be able to get a work visa?
I'd say those are more important 'hurdles' than finding an English language school in a random European country.

MarmiteCoriander · 30/10/2022 00:11

As a child, I lived for 3 yrs in the Middle East and went to an English speaking and English curriculum school. (Despite not being born English!). It was part of the package when we moved there with my fathers job. I dont recall them paying any fees- as these were paid by the company- if applicable.

Not sure that helps you though.

GrumpyPanda · 30/10/2022 00:11

Mydogatemypurse · 30/10/2022 00:02

They are 11 and 7.

At that age, they'll cope just fine with the regular schools - plenty of time to pick up the language. Unless what you're really concerned about is the curriculum and/or exams?

Lemonlady22 · 30/10/2022 00:12

Think it’s harder now we are not part of Europe to just go live in another country and use their resources
