“Non academic” independent school - bright but mildly dyslexic DD

I am the same, but went to a pushy London day school. Hated it as it was simply the wrong place for me. Truly believe I would have thrived somewhere less intense and results focused.

I don’t want that for my DD. I’m just wanting a great school, all-rounding, non-pressured (in relative terms) school in Oxfordshire or Warwickshire - any ideas so so gratefully received! Thank you

Shiplake College? It's in Oxfordshire. They take girls from age 16 but are going to start taking girls from year 7 in September 2023.

Good for an all-round education but not super-academic, I believe.

Bloxham?

Thingstodotwo · 07/10/2022 14:41

Oh really - I always got the impression it was quite hardcore there (as an alternative to Stowe) but do you think not? So interested to hear. Thanks!

We have a similar ds and are looking at Bloxham.

I’m not sure of the geographical area you are looking at, I.e. north Oxfordshire or all of it…also consider
cokethorpe
d’overbroecks
rye st anthony
wychwood

Thank you! This is SO helpful! Will be relocating (post divorce) on my own. Want to prioritise right school over house which I can then work out (small town ideally)

I Second Sibford School.

Cranford House near Wallingford is pretty much exactly what you’re looking for in S Oxon. Quite a long way from Warwickshire though.

Great! Everything is an option as I’ll need to relocate. Also looking around Bath area. I’m so grateful for suggestions, it’s a minefield!! Thank you.

Tudor Hall. Absolutely lovely. Strong all rounders but not highly selective. DM if you want further info.

Wychwood. Job done.

Ah, same here. Looking for independent primary school around Banstead, Surrey. Looking for a happy school for my sensitive boy, not academically pushy. Would be very great-full for any recommendations. Thanks

I also love Wychwood.
