Chemistry A level and Colour Blindness

So DS has just started his A levels and is loving them, however he is a little stressed about the practical part of the assessment for chemistry. It turns out he can't see the change of colour in some chemical reactions due to his colour blindness. Has anyone had any experience of this and know of any ways to navigate it? Tips to manage it? Etc... thanks

Assuming the school files all the right paperwork he can have a "colour namer" in examinations to tell him what colours things are

Brilliant thanks, I'll check the school does, they know he us colour blind but have never asked for anything confirming it, so I'll check what they need.

Yes! I believe in the exam he gets the paper a while before the other students, as well as somebody to go through the colours with him. This is well acknowledged and his teachers should be making allowances for him in class too- they'll definitely want to do this, if he's a-level! They may need reminding though.

It's not always something which is on the SEN register- but make sure the SENCO knows. They can then sort the exam allowances.
