Special needs and disabilities education in British schools

My name is Grace O’Neill, and I am a postgraduate student at University College London Institute of Education. I am recruiting teachers to take in part in my research project, ‘SEND education in English schools.’ SEND is an acronym for special education needs and disabilities.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether SEND education should be more included in classroom curriculum across England. SEND is becoming more prevalent as classrooms become more inclusive. However, research has shown that students with SEND are frequently excluded in school settings. This study aims to provide insights that can help prevent exclusion. The hypothesis of whether students being educated on SEND can lead to greater integration in schools will be investigated by examining teachers' insights. I will be conducting both online questionnaires and interviews. You can choose to take part in either one or both.

If you wish to participate, please contact me by either text message/WhatsApp on my mobile:

Hi

I'm not clear on your topic. By SEND education do you mean education of children with send or education about SEND?

izzy2076 · 15/07/2022 17:17

Sorry, you mean education about send. Ignore me!

So not British schools then, English schools.

I'm not a teacher so can't take part but just wanted to say a huge thank you for conducting research into this. It's such a highly under funded and under developed service.

The fight parents have on their hands to get any kind of support is very real.

It took 4 years and then finally a private Ed Psych report at a cost of £650 to get us any help at all.

So thank you.
