Pupils not going in to school during the last week of term

Question for other Scottish secondary school pupils. Do you allow your DC to stay off for the last week of term? Tomorrow is the last day of school here and most of my DC friends have been allowed to stay off all week. I had to practically drag DS in today. It's usually the last day of school pupils stay off, and the school seems to turn a blind eye, with no lessons being taught. Is this a thing now? Would welcome your thoughts.

My Dd (just done GCSEs) is missing the last week of term but that is with advance permission of the school because she is going to do an academic summer school at a university.
I don’t know if others are randomly cutting the term short but tbh once exams have finished the last few days seems to be a waste of time anyway, so I can’t get too excited about it.

My in laws are in Northern Ireland and they seem to do this. Not in exams years, just normal year, most kids don't turn up for the last week and the teachers seem surprised that my nephews were in school

They will be where I lived;for decades our city schools have finished a week prior to to the rest of the country;everyone goes on holiday for a week as it's much more affordable;there is a lot of poverty in the city where I live and many families are priced out of holidays otherwise.

Then some bright spark from the city council has decided to add a extra 3 days to the end of the normal term because apparently kids need to catch up after the disruption of Covid.

Anyway most people have booked there summer holiday as normal for that week and the kids will taken out of school;tbh the schools here will probably turn a blind eye to it;they know the score here.

Our schools only go to y11 anyway, so once GCSEs are done that's it until September.

I’m in Scotland where I am it’s quite common to miss the last few days would expect much smaller numbers in. A lot of people also get away early for their summer holidays.
