DD going co-ed at 7+ your experiences

My DD has done really well and has offers from LEH and latymer prep and we can’t decide . She’s coming from an all Girls environment but she’s perfectly happy to go Co-Ed. Has anyones DD made the transition at 7+ To coed and what was your experience ? Our DD is quietly confident but not girly or an outgoing alpha type which is what we’re hoping to avoid as want the varied environment. Would love to hear peoples experiences with their DDs.

Just bumping this for you, OP.

@Alexia234 , I don't think it's an issue hence little feedback. I know LEH juniors well and and local dd who don't get into LEH juniors go to other mixed prep schools near by. LEH is a great school and the juniors picks dd suited to the environment.

You are looking at 11 years of travelling to the school so is 1 school nearer than the other?

Yes we are in Chiswick and so latymer prep very close but LEH a drive. I’m probably overthinking this but Co-Ed a bit new to us. Thank you for replying

Go for Latymer, it's a long way to Hampton for LEH and the juniors is quite local. You will find her friends live near the school or down towards Esher and up to Hounslow and you are going to spend so much time in the car. Distances like Chiswick to Claygate are a hike and not possible on public transport. It's different once they are age 11 but for now ask the admissions team how many dd in the first year use the Chiswick bus, it will help you decide.

You should go with a school that will suit your DD best without ignoring the practicalities. Good luck!

@Alexia234 , did you decide in the end?

Alexia234 · 09/02/2022 11:30

Yes we decided to go with latymer as closer to us and great senior school. My DD is not keen on co-Ed but who knows how things will turn out but we’re giving it a go! Thank you for all your replies - So hard to know sometimes what is the right school for your child

Best of luck, I'm sure you will appreciate the easier school run. You can always consider LEH at 11 if she wants a change.
