South coast - 15k for dd - senior, £12K for ds at prep - that's annual.

For Cambridge - obviously not very cheap for schools:
Perse Prep (7-11): £3,603 per term
Perse Upper (11-18): £3,908 per term
St Faith's (4-13): between £2,770.00 and £3,490.00
St John's (4-13): 7+ fees are £3,536

As most people have said in this thread the cost of independent education really does depend on many factors.

The Independent Schools Council has a website with information on over 1000 independent schools in the country which they represent. www.isc.co.uk. On the site you can see the fees for each school, facilities they offer as well as links to the most recent Inspection report for that school.

You can also email them any enquiries through the website. Worth a shot isn't it?
