You have high expectations of your parent governors Enid.

I could never be one for this reason alone, I'd be bound not to show total commitment to The School.

I know someone who sends both his dd's to private school and is a governor of his local state primary actually.

Does sound unusual, but since being a parent governor is quite a time commitment she is probably is committed to her role - otherwise why would she do it?
Could be lots of reasons for moving her child - different schools suit different children, and assume she still has other kids at the school.
And trip to Oz -- it's a long way to go if you don't take a long holiday, and if it's only 2 weeks a year, it doesn't sound like a big deal.
Neither of the things you mention sound like she is necessarily uncommitted to me.

EniDeepMidwinter · 17/12/2007 10:23

oh yes we have those but they are not parent governors

100x why be a gov and send kids to diff school.

Weird

ahundredtimes · 17/12/2007 10:24

She sounds marvellous I think. I'd like to go to Australia for 2 weeks.

Perhaps she'll bring back a kangaroo for the school or something? [brightens] I could be that sort of parent governor I think.

EniDeepMidwinter · 17/12/2007 10:24

oh I like her

and she is a good parent governor

OP posts:
UnquietDad · 17/12/2007 10:24

It does seem odd for a parent governor to make a statement which shows less than complete confidence in the school.

so do governors get paid,I mean the non parent ones?

ahundredtimes · 17/12/2007 10:25

But does she have other children at the school? Otherwise it's obviously mad for her to be a parent governor.

EniDeepMidwinter · 17/12/2007 10:25

ggirls oh thats so they can show teh poor states hwo it should be done

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 17/12/2007 10:25

No I don't think they're paid. It's voluntary isn't it?

Is there another reason for the removal of child? Bullying for instance? One of our governors did that but stayed as a governor which I was a bit at too.....on the other hand my parents were on the governors of my primary school and we all left a year early to go to public school as that was the entrance age - nobody would have questioned their commitment, they just wanted public school education for secondary......(not that I agree necessarily )

Do they have family in Oz?

Does sound as though she may not necessarily have the commitment required/ expected for the job.
