Would like DD to have a French Tutor. Anyone else had one? Or alternatives?

DD1 has never been tutored in anything, but I feel she would benefit from having a french tutor as she is not progressing as she should. She started well, and I considered her aptitude for French to be reasonably good, but her review yesterday was rather disappointing (I am convinced they have the wrong child, as there is another girl in her class with the same first name who is on report), but I didn't realise (and was rather surprised to discover) that she is in a very low group. She enjoys french, and I have always spoken bits at home to encourage the DDs to explore different languages and I know she would like to improve - she is always harping on about asking if she can move up a group (she finds the group she is in quite disruptive). I had considered Le Club Francais or La Jolie Ronde for DD2, but feel these are not suitable for DD1 who has just turned 13.

Anyone else's experiences gratefully received.

Perhaps the school could suggest some one? Does your dd want to be tutored? How is she doing in her other subjects?

No experience as such I'm afraid but I would at least try a tutor. (Finding a GOOD one is going to be the main issue though). Once dd has progressed to a higher achieving group she may manage fine without a tutor.
