Tower House School SW14

Hi everyone,

I recently moved to SW London and I wondered if anyone had any recent views of Tower House School? I have an 18mo son.

From the website it looks very small (approx 18-20 per class) - it that viewed positively or does it impact negatively on things such as team sports?

Both myself and my husband work full-time - any experience of what the wrap-around care and holiday provisions are like?

From walking by I can see that they are currently expanding the school buildings - is there a plan to increase the intake? What new facilities are they building?

I have heard that the sports fields they use in Roehampton are up for sale/development - is this true? If so what is the plan for sports going forward?

At this point I obviously have no idea if my son is going to be academic/sporty/anything else, but I suppose I am looking for a solid school which will provide a good academic grounding, individual attention, good sports/arts opportunities and support in moving up to senior schools. Ideally I would like my son to have local friends. Does Tower House seem like it might fit the bill?

Any info very welcome! Thanks!

@ShakyPigeon , it will be luck if you get a tower house parent on this section of Mumsnet but I can advise that in SW London / Surrey there are 3 boys preps schools that sit in a slightly different group, this is because your ds can stay until 13 and they will prepare him for common entrance exams for Eton / Harrow and other top boys boarding schools. The other preps are Shrewsbury house in long Ditton and kings house in Richmond. Some parents will choose tower house because of this reputation.
As you will know there are so many prep schools in the Kew area so I would focus on visiting as many as you can and asking about wrap around care and facilities etc that work for your family. The state sector is good in Richmond, sheen, Barnes and Kew and the prep schools aren't as full as they would like to be, ie you don't have to make a decision soon.
