I can't read the question.

Could you screen print and increase the size in paint or something?

Lougle · 24/09/2021 14:13

The first one: Add up the people who went abroad (25) and the people who went on a UK holiday (15). Total 40. 40/55=0.72727272 rounded to 3 d.p. is 0.727

I can't make out what the tree diagram says on the second one, as it's not clear enough.

missk167 · 24/09/2021 14:15

Is this better?

In the second one each vertical 'branch' should add up to 1.0, so fill in the blanks. What numbers do you now have?

Lougle · 24/09/2021 14:18

Can you list the numbers on the branches of the tree diagram? The text is clear but the numbers are blurred.

But the method would be the number from the first arm x the number for the second arm.

So say attended was 0.8 and passed was 0.4, then attended and passed would be 0.32 (0.8x0.4)

Lougle · 24/09/2021 14:20

Yes, titchy has it, ignore my post. The tree diagram is already taking into account the ones who have attended/not attended.

  • 55 people interviewed
  • 25 people went abroad
  • 15 people had a holiday in U.K.

So, first sum up how many people had a holiday of any kind.

How many is that? X

Then, they are going to ask one of the 55 people if they went on holiday. The answer is X/55 then time by 100 to get a percentage (if you need a percentage).

missk167 · 24/09/2021 14:26

Sorry about that. Here we go Smile

Oh ignore the percentage, it’s three decimals they need.

So, work out X then divide by 55!

titchy · 24/09/2021 14:30

Just fill in the blanks - come on you can do that yourself! Each column branch has to add up to 1.0 in total, so if the first column has a 0.8 in the top box what would you put in the bottom box?

Fifthtimelucky · 24/09/2021 17:54

OP: this is the third thread you have started today asking for help with probability questions. It looks to me that you need to chat to the school/college and ask for some extra help in this area to improve your understanding.

Lougle · 24/09/2021 18:02

I've just seen a screenshot of one of your other threads - I didn't realise that this is your actual summative assessment! This is meant to be done on your own to show your understanding. I'm pretty sure it's cheating to ask people on a forum to answer the questions for you Confused
