Move my children to a private Waldorf school?

My children are currently attending a public school (YRS2 & Reception) and one at nursery.

Me and my husband were seriously considering taking them out and sending them to a Waldorf school but upon doing some more research have found some strange things online.

Does anyone have any experience with Waldorf education and would I be doing them more harm than good taking them out of “main stream”school?

My brother went to one. It was creepy and weird and I disliked even visiting it

It has the most rigid and undifferentiated curricula I've ever come across.

Yes. I find it odd that a pp called it creative. It's anything but. In all his years there my brother only got to paint in one particular style (Google Waldorf art - it's really creepy) He was only allowed to do one kind of PE, one kind of dance. I could go on. You can only do anything their way.

He was very poorly served by the place.

Irrelevant of what actually goes on in the school, and the thinking behind it (both of which I do think you should really consider very carefully) check the school times.
The Steiner school I know only does half days until the age of 8 and expects substantial parent involvement- attending all the festivals, making things for bake sales and handicraft sales etc. It is very much a community with families very involved.
You said no to home schooling because of wotk commitments. Could you cope with non-conventional school hours if that is the case with your local school?

@DillonPanthersTexas

To me it feels like a mixture of Christianity and Nature Religions, with the reincarnation elements in particular causing race and disability controversy.

While I appreciate my experiences are decades old but Anthroposophy was never actually taught in the classroom at the Steiner school I went to.

No, but it is the founding principle to the curriculum, hence the 7 year cycles due to the belief in an Etheric body stage similar to other Nature Religions.

Thank you all so much, I didn’t expect to get this many replies! It’s true it’s hard to find proper articles without it being on one side or the other, it is also true that I am probably projecting my childhood on to my children. It has been really interesting ready everyone’s personal experiences with the schools. It has been very helpful.
