11+ Tuesday are you sending child to school Monday?

Hi everyone

This is my dilemma, not sure whether to let child go to school tomorrow or use the day for last minute prep and early bedtime ahead of the 11+ exam on Tuesday

What are you guys honestly doing or have done in the past?

My DD is sitting on Tuesday. I'm not keeping her off and we haven't done any prep since school started back (other than some new vocabulary as it came up in conversation or books). She's feeling happy and confident and I think last-minute prep could do more harm than good. I will remind her of some things about the actual exam process though.
I didn't keep DS off when he did his either.
Best of luck to your DC for Tuesday.

Don’t do anything that ups the ante. Really. Letting your child stay off for last minute cramming just underlines how important you feel this is. Which probably won’t matter if your child passes, but is going to make it a lot more difficult to play down if they don’t.

I'd keep them in school Monday as keeping them off gives them space and time to get worked up... Wouldn't have worked for my child at all

Thanks for the advice, it's great to see what others are doing

Mine’s going to school because I think if she was off she would start to get nervous. Trying to keep everything very calm and normal. Just another day type of thing. Def no last minute prep as could really backfire I think.

I kept DD off on the Friday for the 11+ on the Saturday.

It was fine, we went over stuff. She wasn’t stressed. And passed.

Was thinking of doing similar tomorrow rather than send son into school then he is too tired after school to do any revision the day before the exams

By the time DC were writing their exams, they should have been well versed in what they need to learn, so no last minute cramming for us. I kept them at school.

The only time I would have kept them off is if they had been tired with sport or other strenuous activity.

I doubt that last minute revising is going to very productive.
I’d just keep everything as normal as possible.
Not sure why going to school would stop him being in bed early.

We had 11+ on Saturday and I didn’t keep DD off school beforehand. A boy in her class was kept off from the start of term though, to avoid Covid messing things up. Lots of the dc taking the test at DD’s school did this last year. I took my chances (there’s a late test for people missing it for medical reasons anyway).

I sent our daughter in the day before the test. One parent picked their son up early the day before. Couldn't see the point of them sitting at home getting worked up
