Teacher assessed grades

My DS is, like many others, waiting for his TAGs in August. I've been looking at the Ofqual and JCQ guidance on reviews and appeals process. DS's school has sent parents/students a doom laden note which basically says don't bother to request a review/appeal because you won't get anywhere. I'm interested to know if any others are contemplating going down the review and appeal route.

Do you have good reason to believe that your school haven't assessed appropriately?

I've picked up the impression that there's basically no appeal process this year. I've decided not to think about it until results day when hopefully she'll get the grades for uni. We've discussed the minimum that she'd settle for, what is likely and what she's likely to get. She is taking a gap year so retaking is an option but we are hoping that won't be necessary.

This years system has been set up so that if it goes wrong, students blame schools rather than the government. They don't want protesting etc like last year

Has your dc signed the form that says everything has been done properly? Not got a leg to stand on if so

Why are you considering this already when he doesn’t even know his grades yet?

There is definitely an appeals process. Seems quite a few are under that impression though.

IF a review/appeal is required, the timelines are so short, it's as well to be clued up.

Actually I've just read the appeals process from school for A-level students and there is one. It says that appeals are based on administrative errors, procedural errors or unreasonable judgement by the school. First the school reviews the appeal then they send it off.
We are going to wait and see what grades she gets.

Why if there if there is no appeals process have Awarding Bodies employed and started training 1000s of people to work on any appeals that arise?

Why are you contemplating review and appeal before he's received his grades, OP?
