Dd seems to think it went ok, she said the hardest bit was the sight singing

Tamum · 01/12/2007 15:47

We go to a Centre too, and the teachers have never been told the results. It's quite easy to overhear how the children are doing though, so I would agree with beety that might be the explanation. I got caught out with thinking that ds's grade 3 violin had gone remarkably well though- he'd misread the key signature on his sight reading, which I obviously couldn't tell

multitasker · 01/12/2007 16:05

I don't think exam results are available on the day - the board I do mine with - London College of Music and Media insist all results from centers are collated and verified in London so results can take up to 2 weeks.

Ds exam is tomorrow from 11.13 to 11.38am at school. Don't you love the precise timings!

Do other dc's phone after and tell you how it's gone? Ds has in the past, but I'm not sure if I'm being too intrusive to ask him again (equally, I'm not sure I'm patient enough to wait & find out).

BrightBaublesBeetroot · 13/12/2007 15:45

well

two results are in so far

dd(8) has passed her grade 2 piano and got a merit for her grade 3 recorder - all that and a new chorister. very proud of her.

ds(10) grade 2 flute distinction

thank god they all passed them

who eles???

BrightBaublesBeetroot · 13/12/2007 16:15

actually am very proud mother - especially as they are such busy kids anyway with choir.

Shows how hard work pays off

HappyChristmasWalrusIsOver · 13/12/2007 16:17

My pupil passed with Merit, and he got a higher mark than in his Grade 2, so I am chuffed and so is he.

ABRSM are much better then they used to be, at least now you can check onle for results. In the olden days, it used to take at least a month to get the results back.

alexandre · 13/12/2007 16:31

"you won't have known how the exam went, surely?"

The teachers listen outside the door!

DD waiting for her result - exam was 9 days ago. The teacher can check the results online if the teacher entered them online. That way you get them quicker than in the post - if the teacher calls you after checking (more likely for a good result than a bad one). But it still take about 10 days to 3 weeks.

BrightBaublesBeetroot · 13/12/2007 17:07

ours took about 10 days - great to know before Christmas as DS1 was worried about his

RosaLuxMundi · 13/12/2007 17:17

DD1 did grade 1 Violin three weeks ago and got the results today.
Merit - and only a couple of marks more and it would have been distinction!!
I have boast posted elsewhere but I am so so proud, because she worked really hard and was incredibly nervous beforehand.
I think I might cry.

snorkle · 13/12/2007 17:21

Big well done to all the mini beets. You have lots to be proud of there.

We're still waiting here, so I'm a little even though ours was the week after yours.

Ds is also a bit apprehensive about his - everything went a bit pear-shaped this time (especially scales) which is a shame as he's always had distinctions before for cello but will be happy to pass this one. There's a lot of difference in the amount of practise you need to do to play things right most of the time and the amount to play things right all of the time (& under pressure).

Hope we get the results soon.

snorkle · 13/12/2007 17:22

well done to RosaLuxMundi's dd too, and Walrus's student .

BrightBaublesBeetroot · 14/12/2007 07:40

great to hear it RosaLuxMundi's dd too, and Walrus's student - such a nice feeling just before Christmas

Bink · 18/12/2007 22:58

PHEW ds passed (Gr1 piano)

snorkle · 19/12/2007 09:01

Good to hear it Bink . It's our last day of term and if we don't get ds's result today we have to wait 'till next term . I really don't think I've the patience for that (though ds seems to rather hope is result will be lost permanently).

Bink · 19/12/2007 09:06

I'm very relieved - ds's behaviour can be, mm, erratic (in terms of "liveliness") - as was subtly shown by the comment on the aural tests bit: "enthusiastic responses".

Funnily enough, other than that, he did best on sight-reading ("a brave attempt ..."), which he finds the most challenging, so I'm proud of him as well as relieved

snorkle · 19/12/2007 09:18

Bink, music exams are nervewracking for us parents especially when it's younger less predictable family members doing them! I like the sound of his 'enthususiastic responses' - ds is teenage now with a broken voice - the examiner will be lucky to have got more than a few grunts from him for the aural!

RosaLuxMundi · 19/12/2007 16:37

Well done Bink's boy.

BrightBaublesBeetroot · 19/12/2007 16:38

fab news Binks boy .
