Hi all,

I have twin boys who are 4 In August so are due to start school this year but will be the youngest in the school year.
Believe it or not they didn't get any of my top 4 preferred schools and was given a school i will definitely not be sending them too. I have appealed this and am awaiting response from that.
I have the option to keep them in Pre school another year and re attempt the schools next year. My question is does anyone know if it's better to be the youngest in the school year or the oldest?

Thanks

As the rules stand, you should only need one place. If one of your twins gets a place, most schools will admit the other automatically. If they don't it would be difficult for them to defend an appeal.

Again just so unusual to not be given any of the options given?

Not really, it depends on where you are and whether you listed sensible and realistic options. Thousands will be in the same position nationally.

I wouldn’t get too hung up on that bit.
It may be unusual generally, but if you live just that bit too far away from the schools, and then that’s combined with something like a high birth rate in your DC’s year then it can happen. Even if you’ve listed your nearest schools.
It’s certainly not a freakishly rare event.
