Moving to Bath, please tell me all about a school that would suit a Dyslexic Arty child.

I really would love to move to Bath. The pandemic has made us question everything. DH and I can both work from home.
My DD is Dyslexic and Arty. Her current school is very supportive and know she’ll thrive. If we got it together to move this year she’d be going into year 10, and I’m aware it could be disruptive. Maybe we should wait till 6 th form?
I desperately want to move and secretly hate where we live.
Is it so terrible to move at this point? And can anyone recommend a school in or within 30 mins from Bath with a strong SEN Department that would suit an arty child?

Thanks

I can't tell you anything except avoid St Marks. It's not a bad school (anymore!) but definitely not a good one either.

I went to St Mark's when it was a bad school. But I've heard good things about it since particularly as nurturing with good SEN provision.

We are open to state or private schools, girls or CO ED and happy for her to travel up to 30 mins from Bath.

It might be worth your while looking at the Bath and North East Somerset council website for a list of schools.
Would you be driving 30 minutes or would she be taking public transport? The traffic in Bath can be a nightmare, particularly in the city centre which has a dreadful one way system.

Kingswood.
My sister is dyslexic and arty and had a great time there and did well. She went to a good university to do art.
Very supportive school.
Don’t pick girls school or king edwards if you don’t want somewhere very pressurised.
Good luck.

Thanks guys. Will look at Kingswood.
Anyone know anything about Monkton Combe?

1987 - 1994.

I once had 'a joy to teach' in a report and had to explain to my parents that it was shorthand for 'unlike the rest of her cohort Freezer has never locked me in the stationery cupboard'.

I have a niece at Royal High School which is boarding but takes day too - she has SEN issues as is very well supported there. She does lots of art and drama.

I know of an arty girl with dyslexia who moved to Prior Park in Y10, I think she's been very happy (she moved due to friendship/bullying issues in previous school). I know quite a few parents with children there and I've not heard of any complaints.
