"CACHE Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care"

I am 34, starting on the path to a very much wanted career within social work/ working with vunrable kids/adults.

Doing a course that earns a CACHE Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, would this help?
Is this just to go towards a job as a carer in an elderly home etc?

I don't want to be a social worker as I don't want to get a degree. I know as a social worker assistant i wouldn't NEED a degree so this is a job role I am considering also.

To start my learning and education would thus level 2 diploma be a good place?

Thanks

Level 2 is gcse equivalent , you would probably need a higher level qualification to become more than a care assistant. What qualifications do you have already?

Thanks for your reply @LIZS

Yes, I understand its GCSE level but I have to work my way up as I have no other qualifications in this field.

My question is, Would this be a good starting course relating to a job in social care?

I guess so as a starting point but you may also need gcse English and Maths (or equivalent) to progress onto level 3.

@LIZS , you're right.
I have to have 5 A-C GCSE grades, so I'm starting a math functional skills course to earn a level 2, which is the equivalent to a A-C grade, as I already have the other 4 from school.
