Online independent school?

Anyone heard of this school? www.ladyevelyn.school/
An ad popped up in my inbox for this independent online Muslim school. I've been through their website but can't see when they were founded or any info on the teachers, pupil achievement, leavers' destinations, etc.

It could be a really good thing especially as our schools are shut now and my DCs aren't getting live online lessons from their primary school. Or it could be a glorified tutor agency dressed up to look like an indie, iyswim.

Never heard of it. Inter high is the main online school I think and I'm sure other people will know of others.

Thanks @Lightsabre.

I'd never heard of full time online schooling. Is it a good idea? I mean, it works out way cheaper than tutoring but since we're all locked down now, what do online schools have to offer that others which are now teaching online don't? As said, my DCs school isn't teaching online so maybe I should consider this? Would love to hear from someone whose child has attended this type of school, or who knows someone who has.

I would be very wary.
All the photos on the website appear to be stock images.
No staffing profiles - cannot even find the name of the Headteacher on the website!
The website states that class sizes are small - but no indication of how small. It says that tutorials are limited to 19 but that subject classes are 'larger'.
They come under the heading of home learning so are not accountable to Ofsted. You, as the parent would be responsible.
A selling point seems to be that your child won't be mixing with other children.

Good online schools would be able to offer teachers who are expert in teaching online. Standard teachers are trying our best but there has been little to no training in the pedagogy of teaching online in most schools.

I can't attest to whether the link you've found is a good online school. I would, too, suggest you are wary. The repeated mentions of "British curriculum" are bizarre - there isn't one. There are English, Scottish and Welsh curricula. The idea that a benefit of online school is that they won't be mixing with other children is concerning - homeschooling should include socialisation (in non pandemic times of course).

If you are really interested in online schools I would take a look at Interhigh or Myonline schooling. My son goes to Interhigh and it is excellent for him.

Alternatively Outschool does some brilliant ad hoc /weekly classes on all sorts of topics for every age from about 3-18! My children love their science/humanities/art /engineering subjects and also the hobby /social type groups too. This link should allow you to try a class (up to $20) for free.

I use a local tutor for maths and English though as I feel those core subjects need an experienced UK teacher.

That's all really interesting.

Thanks for the insights into the lady evelyn school and the alternatives. I suspect it is very new, probably post-covid, hence no achievement stats or leavers' destinations. They should just say that though and definitely identify the teachers Confused.

Our primary school has now started live online lessons so I won't be moving DC, but I'll check out outschool.com

Portland Place School have an online route alongside some school activities. I think it’s new this year but an ad came up on my Facebook and it looked good - it’s a good school. I think Harrow are doing it too.

Does any mum here knows about Portland Place online Hybrid school, how it is for GCSE.
