Any experience of this school? My daughter is really keen to go to the day school. She does weekend drama and has been in panto, does dance classes etc...
My worry is that I'm really not familiar with musical theatre type stuff and that 11 is really early to decide what you want to do as a career.

Honestly stay in main stream till at least 16 doing extra curricular dance, singing and MT. If she is then really certain look at the wide variety ( and considerably cheaper) of sixth form MT courses that are available. 11 is way, way too young to narrow down to MT.
I followed the above route with my DD she won a place at Read College in Reading at 16 and she agrees that getting a wide range of GCSEs and then narrowing was the best route.

I know quite a few girls at Arts Ed and looked at it for DD.

You choose whether to do Dance or Acting strand - if you do the Acting strand you only do one dance class a week though, and iirc only one drama class if you do Dance strand.

You will also need to take a private ballet class and 1-to-1 singing class outside school as well as they don't provide that as part of the school.

The children I know there all really enjoy it and are happy. The academic results are also extremely good. It is extremely competitive to get a place there.

It wasn't right for DD at the moment for a number of reasons and we had the opportunity of a state place at a school with excellent music and performing arts provision. If you have that possibility, it's probably better to save the money and wait till 6th Form or degree level.

The academic curriculum is really limited compared to a normal school. I honestly don't know why you would. Far better to stay at a school that doesn't limit your future choices quite so much and think again at 16, IMO.

Hmmm, plenty to think about there. Thank you all. I suppose we'll have to wait and see if she gets in/ we stay in London.
@OhCrumbsWhereNow do you know of any kids who went there and then changed course?
@Lonecatwithkitten congratulations to your DD :-)
