Faith letter

I want DD to go to a CofE school very close to us. We are of another faith though which is in the admission criteria it just states to send in a faith letter signed but a faith minister. Just wondered if anyone else has done this and knew what they faith letter should say.

I was just thinking would something along the lines of -
xxx is of this xxx faith and due to this we would like her in a school with a similar religious ethos. Parents names regularly attend...

Then get it signed by a faith minister.

TIA

I think that the admission criteria is likely to be more specific than you state. If the school is asking for a letter it is usually called a supplementary form and is in a format set up by the school. You need to check this out as if you do not use the right form and get it back in the required time it will not count when it comes to allocation of places.

@admission thank you. They do have a form but that is only for the church and to confirm you attend at least once a month. Those who can get that signed will obviously have first preference. It then states those of other faiths who wish their child to attend a faith school to get a faith letter signed by the faith minister.

I would ask your minister - they will have had experience of signing these letters for other students and should be able to advise you on what it should say.

The letter should confirm that you are a good-standing member of the faith (so if there are parallel to baptism or confirmation, then have those mentioned), how long you have been an active member of the faith community, and how often you have attended worship (for the same length of time as they ask of Christian families).

If any of that does not map well to the tenets and practices of your faith, then have the leader explain what does matter and how your familiy's practice fits.

You may well find that the leader has experience of what is required

Some faith schools ask for proof of regular attendance for a minimum amount of time e.g. twice a month for at least two years.
