where abouts in the city are you - this would be a factor for state schools.
Are you open to faith schools? single sex or co -ed?

I suppose KES boys would be the most central boys Independent , Ive heard good things about Sollihull school. Would you travel or move for an independent?

There's a catchment system for Bham Grammars now - I'm not sure how it's working out, but I always think it's worth a shot if you feel a grammar would suit.

Grammars are pretty much impossible without a significant amount of tutoring, unless your child really is exceptionally bright.

Are you looking at any particular area?

We need more info really about where you are in Birmingham / where you'd be willing to move to etc to give you any advice

People say this but it’s not true - it’s just that most people tutor for years and they assume their kids wouldn’t have got in without it. They do need some prep (by you or a tutor) so they’re familiar with the format but a top table type of child should have a good chance.
