Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any plans to reduce their risk in the classroom, given that the government seem to be offering nothing.

I've just ordered some of those masks where you can see your mouth. I've also bought those gel bottles which clip to a lanyard and I'm also going to keep a solution of soap and water in one of those pump bottles on my desk so that I can do mini hand washes inbetween times I can get to the bathroom.

Anyone any other ideas?

Nothing wrong with your post but I question why you need to be asking this question.
If you have a contract with a school, I question how has COVID procedures not already been considered and agreed with the school. If you are working as supply then I would agree that everything you have put in place seems sensible precautions. However most schools do not seem to be going with wearing face masks, so wherever you are working you need to be establishing and following the agreed procedures of the school.

I'm not entirely convinced your soap and water pump will work as you need to rinse the germs away, where did you get this idea? I'd be interested to know if there is a good way of doing
Adopt a hairstyle that keeps stray hair out of your face, so you are less tempted to touch your face to push hair away.

What gets me, is all the children are directly facing the teacher. There really isn’t anything that can be done about that, unfortunately. My mums suggestion was to tell them all to face the other way-you can tell she’s not a teacher! Grin
Open as many windows/doors as you can. I teach primary so I’ve got them all their own pencil pots so no sharing chewed pencils. Lots of hand washing for everyone. Wash clothes everyday & shower & wash hair after school.

Our schools went back today, my ds just started s1 in Scotland. He says there are hand sanitising stations outside every classroom which they must use , social distancing of 1 metre except for the child you sit next to or outside and around half the teachers were wearing masks, I believe any teacher who wants to can wear one here. And yes a hand gel is your only option without a sink and more effective than what you are planning.
