Independent schools near Wimbledon

We are looking to move our DS to an independent school near to, or easily accessible from Wimbledon (although would consider elsewhere in West London).

Ideally moving at 7+ although maybe 11+. He is not sporty and struggles a bit in his current school with a very sporty year group. He's bright and engaged but that does tip over into very focused sometimes (ie when he was interested in space he wouldn't talk about anything else for weeks). He has had a hard time making friends because of the lack of sport but also he's not particularly 'cool' if that makes sense, not really into the same video games as everyone else...

Any recommendations? Kings is the obvious one but he may not get in. I'm worried that the more out of London we go the more sporty things get (possibly wrongly?) so maybe we need to look at central London schools? And maybe coeducational?

Are the Dulwich schools too far - Alleyn’s, Dulwich College? I know Alleyn’s is very hot on drama and has great theatre/drama facilities. I think there is a direct train from Wimbledon to just near Alleyn’s. Coach is another option to either school.
Good luck

I have two bright sporty boys at Willington Prep in Wimbledon who absolutely adore this school. We honestly couldn’t be happier and genuinely feel this school is the hidden gem of Wimbledon! I feel so lucky they are there.
So many people dismiss it because of its outdoor space (we nearly did!) yet they work around this amazingly and have two full afternoons up at their sports grounds. Yes when they reach senior school age I would very much like them to be in a school set in bigger grounds but at this tender age the benefits of this school far outweigh any on-site playing fields.
The teachers and head are wonderful, the sports department so passionate and my children are just so happy! It’s the most nurturing school. Things step up in Year 3 and they really start working on preparing the boys. If you compare the percentage of children who gain scholarships (to Rokeby for example) Willington exceed all others in the area. It really is a fabulous little school with an amazing community feel that so many independents don’t have.
With the changes in place enabling this school to become an official 11+ school (and now with the times!) I have no doubt we will be moving onto the senior schools of our choice.
