Hello. Looking for reviews and advice on this school for 11+ entry.

Does anyone know what the admission test is like?

Any other advice or information would be very welcome.

Thanks

Every child at our prep who sat it this year was offered a place. They were a group of girls with very wide abilities - one won an academic scholarship. Another is in bottom sets but still gained a place. So, it’s “selective” but only to the extent that you need to sit an exam.

They all commented that the online tests felt quite time pressured. They could also chose an activity to do on the day. All girls had a very positive experience and enjoyed themselves. They did a very good job at ensuring the girls were put at ease. I really wouldn’t worry.

Thank you.

Do you work at a prep school?

No. Just a parent.

Thank you. It's been really hard to find information/reviews about this school.

Do you know how many of the girls from your school will be taking the place. Is RMS more of a back up choice school?

I hate the term back up school as it implies it is somehow second rate. For the right girl it is an exceptionally good school in terms of the value add academically and the range of extra curricular activities.

Is it less selective academically than other schools in the area (Habs, St Albans, the Bucks grammars) so in that respect it might be seen as a second choice, but for increasing numbers it is their first choice school.

Of the six who were offered places, only one is going there. Two are off to grammar, two to Berkhamsted and one to Pipers Corner. At our school girls and parents are encouraged and guided to find the school of best fit as opposed to being swayed by results or reviews. I am a great believer in gut reaction - if it feels like the right place for your daughter then it probably is. If you want a highly selective academic hothouse then it absolutely isn’t.
