School Fees Freeze

If your school has committed to not increase fees for next academic year (20/21) due to CV etc, do you know whether they plan to try to recoup the difference by higher rises in subsequent years?
Has anyone asked their school? Interested as we've done cost projections for our children's fees based on 5% rise per annum. Their current school hasn't frozen fees so no point asking them! They'll be leaving there within the next two years though. Thanks in advance.

It wouldn't occur to me ask, because I don't see that they can have any idea at this moment, when we're still in the middle of uncertainty about when schools will go back, what will happen with boarders and international students, whether we'll have a second spike and they'll have to shut again etc. Even if they are privately doing these sorts of speculative calculations, I can't imagine they would be happy to say publically at this stage that they're going to whack the fees up twice as much in 18 months' time to claw back their current losses.

Yep all fair points. Another aspect of life we can no longer plan for....

Yes, it's a bit how I feel at the moment!

Our school have been very open and said they will be reviewing fees again in January 2021 which is code for putting the fees up

Oh right so not freezing for the year? Ours the same. We got 10% off this term and that's it so far. I've got them moving to a new prep in 21 or 22 and I believe they have frozen fees for next year but I'm wondering if that means they'll claw back later. I don't like surprises!

Exactly the same here. First they refused any reduction, then gave us 10% when the parents kicked off and stated very clearly in the letter they sent that fees will be reviewed in January 2021. They put them up most years , so I don’t think 2021 will be any different especially if a few people leave due to a change in circumstances post corona
