Hi all

Does anyone have a DC at bancrofts? Any experience/ tips you can share?

My DC is only 4, so have a while before the 7+. He is in the best local state primary. Should I put him in for private tuition?

Thanks

Just wanted to add, whilst he is academically able, he is extremely shy around ppl he doesn't know.

Loads of kids go from our area. Where are you?

We are within driving distance of the school. We recently went to visit and he loved it. Just unsure on how to help him to get in.

Is he too young for drama classes? Might increase his speaking skills.

There are tutors that specialise in 7+ exams. It is the right time to try as Bancrofts is taking fewer at 11+. We never went down the 7+ route so I am a little unsure whom to recommend. You do need some tutoring though, to properly practice the exams. I am sure someone will come along and tell you they didnt bother and that might have been true ten or even five yrs ago but those days are gone. Forest is not doing 7+ anymore: only option is 4+ or 11+ (13+ also going the way of the Dodo.) Chigwell also does 7+ and 11+ entry. We've been through the process at 11+ and i have children at these schools. If you PM I am happy to try to advise on finding a tutor. One of the 11+ providers might have a recommendation and can advise when to start. Just because your child doesn't get in at 7+ doesn't mean it's hopeless at 11 though. Kids develop differently. I have one child nearing the final years of school who was in a prep beforehand. I would say there are advantages and disadvantages from being in one school for such a long time, (if you go through to A level.) Bear in mind also that if you are in Redbridge there are excellent state primaries and there is no reason your child couldn't get in at 11 plus.

Thank you for your reply. That would be great except I don't know how to PM. :/ could someone tell me how to do it please? I'm using this app on my iPhone. Thanks

@justasmalltownmum how are you getting on? We are considering whether to do Bancrofts exam at 7+ or 11+...
