I signed something they gave me - you need to ask them, as they claimthe money directly. However it doesn't cover the cost of a 3 hour session - think it is only 2 and half hours per day...

My nursery is going to cost me 40 pounds per week..she goes 5 afternoon, I wonder how they are going to work it out.

When you start they will ask you to sign to say how many sessssions your dd is attending. They can then knock the amount form your bill.

and for 1 term only ?

no it is from the term after they turn three till they start school. I think it is 15 hours total per week, 2 and half hours per day only.

DS only goes to nursery 2 mornings a week so I only get the benefit of it for 2 monrings. Still have to pay a top up though as his nursery sessions are for 3 hours.

Does anyone know if I could get the free hours with my childminder on the other days of the week?

Thank you very much for help ! I tought we only had this for 1 term...so my dd is going to be 20 hours at the nursery and the governement is paying 15 hours, it's not too bad !

what does accredited mean - is that a special qualification? She hasn't given me any forms to sign yet and he has been entitled for 2 terms now.

Katymac · 02/09/2007 20:41

It is an additional 'level' of qualification and only a very small number of childminders are currently accredited

cece · 03/09/2007 22:29

Thank you I think she has not got it yet so that is prbably why whe hasn't given me a form to fill in yet!

alibubbles · 04/09/2007 14:01

The parent only has to sign the form, the childminder fills it in and asks for a copy of the birth certificate. I am accredited and have claimed for three children so far.

The funding can take a while to come through, half a term generally for childminders, so my families continue to pay me the usual fee and I have the cheque made payable to them, or generally take it off a months fees as it is only abpyt £400ish a term, so half a months fees for one month is a nice surprise so I am told!
