If you are a sahm how often is your 3yo at nursery?

My daughter turned 3 in November and started doing two half days a week in July. So we are only just now getting funded hours. It was a huge expense which luckily we had been saving childcare vouchers for since she was born. We sent her because she was so shy and she still is. We will increase to 15 hours gradually now but can't afford any more.

Mine went 5 mornings from when they got their funded hours

I also have a nine month old who is supposed to be having lunch time nap at lunch time pickup so I don't want any more mornings and don't think I can do school nursery class in September because of this.

Mine are older now but at three they all went for two full days and one half day. Full days were 8:30 to 2:30 though so not long days.

DD1 did 2 6hr days and one 3hr morning.
DD2 did five 3hr mornings.

Don't make the decision based on a babies nap time, that could change at any time. I preferred DD1s set up though, as we then had 2 days to do other stuff

Mine has only gone to nursery for the 15 hours free entitlement she got at 3 years old... We take it as 2 days and a half day...

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 28/01/2020 14:39

Mine did & come September dc5(2.5yo) will do, Wed pm then all day Thursday & Friday. We self funded Dc2 from 2y8m for 3 afternoons a week until the 3yo funding kicked in after the Easter (she started at the end of the September).

The older 4 have all settled well at school just from using the 15 hours entitlement.

Two full days (school hours).

He caught up on naps on his home days until he eventually dropped them altogether.

Spudlet · 28/01/2020 14:40

Oh sorry, I misread about the naps (I’m ill, in my defence!). Nah, don’t base it around the baby’s naps, they can change so quickly anyway.

stophuggingme · 28/01/2020 14:43

My eldest son and now my daughter do or did two days each of 8.30-5 at the latest
Neither of them napped from 2 so I didn’t have that to consider

My son initially did the two and half hours every morning but with a fourteen month old and being pregnant it was horrendous all the coming and going

MummyNWife · 28/01/2020 14:52

I work from home part time and my youngest currently does 2 full days and after Easter once she is entitled to her free hours, she will do 3 full days.

BottleOfJameson · 28/01/2020 18:16

Mine both did 3 consecutive half days from 2.5 years old (we found any less time they didn't settle). I then increased that to five half days at 3, from 3.5 they both did 3 full days increasing to 4 full days for the final term before reception.

Selfsettling3 · 28/01/2020 18:21

School nursery so 9 until 11.45/12 5 days a week. I have a 6 month old who just naps or doesn’t in the sling on the walk to and from nursery.

superking · 28/01/2020 18:24

Mine does 3 x 5 hour days, that's just right for her.

Mumdiva99 · 28/01/2020 18:26

My kids only ever did 3 mornings 9-12. (The eldest did go up to 4 mornings in his last term of preschool.) I was sahm because I wanted to do things with them myself. So I never had any need for them to do more. They all settled into school brilliantly.

PureAlchemy · 29/01/2020 17:34

My 3 yr old takes his 15 free hours as 2 full days and 1 half day.

We just have to pay a bit for his lunch on the full days.

JoJoSM2 · 29/01/2020 21:34

DS is 1.5yo and does 4 mornings. When he’s 3, I hope for him to be doing 8.30-3 every day.
