State schools for Homes near Kew Retail Park

Hi everyone.. Please Help!

We are thinking of moving to Kew - just by the retail park, and are totally confused as to which state schools we would be likely to get for dd.

Can anyone give me an idea of which state secondary schools we should visit/are likely to get into?

Thanks so much in advance

Castoreum I can assure you that I am a real and quite disappointed mummy at the moment..

We have actually decided that Twickenham will be best as dh and I feel that Waldegrave is the safest option. We don't want to disrupt dd's secondary education, even if there are bulge classes being taken on by Christ's and Rpa. And actually, Rpa wouldn't really have been an option for us anyway as it would have taken 2 buses and at least a 40 minute travelling distance for dd, which would mean that she would pretty much be totally reliant on drop offs and ubers..

If livingstone Academy was definitely going ahead then I personally would have been very happy to send dd there..

The scramble for school places is horrid. I personally do not like Twickenham very much but I guess its another case of bowing down to peer pressure!

It's not interesting Castoreum..I name change regularly. It's a privacy thing and I'd recommend it.

You may need to watch out if you're implying anything else - troll hunting is against MNHQ guidelines.

You could always move to a part of Kew that’s better connected to the RPA if you don’t like Twickenham.

JoJo, i didn't mean what I said about Twickenham in a bad way.. I just meant that it's not as close to the tube as I would have liked.

I guess i'm just disappointed about the Kew place that we saw and loved..

I wouldn't worry too much about a 40 minute journey. That's a fairly standard secondary school travel time in SW London. Not many children will be getting Ubers or lifts to school.

Castoreum · 08/01/2020 20:37

Look at Richmond, then. One bus to RPA, one bus to Waldegrave, one bus to Christ's, tube line, overland, train and ten minutes walk from Kew. 40 minutes is definitely quite standard as travel time round here unless you are lucky enough to be in walking distance.

@summer8sun I just read on Twitter that the planning application for the Mortlake Brewery site is being heard on Jan 29th. I thought you might be interested even if it's too late for your decision.

Equanimitas · 20/01/2020 01:34

Twickenham is pretty good for transport - it doesn't have an underground station, but there is a good service to Clapham Junction and Waterloo, it's easy to get to Richmond for the underground there, plus there are lots of buses. If you want Waldegrave, Richmond would be risky.

Glaciferous · 20/01/2020 15:35

Anecdotal, obviously, but all the girls from Richmond I personally know who wanted Waldegrave got it (recent past). Some had to wait for the second round of allocations.

Catroeum, equanimitas, glaciferous, thank you for the info, we have decided to play it safe and go closer to the better schools

Does anyone know what happened at the recent council meeting? Just out of interest..

Yep, planning permission was granted for the school: www.richmondandtwickenhamtimes.co.uk/news/18198418.mortlake-stag-brewery-development-go-ahead-council-approval/
