Can you please advise me if you have any information regarding these two schools scholarship and overall performance?
Many Thanks

All their academic results are on their websites - it’s very easy to compare. However, really, their results reflect how selective they are. Pretty much all the KEHS entrants will also have a place at a grammar school whereas EHS is often a fall back for those without KEHS/grammar places.

The top performers at EHS do just as well though, there’s just more of a spread. As EHS are less selective it’s easier to get a scholarship there and I understand they give up to 50% off - but you do need to commit to the school for the full 7 years or pay it back.

What did you want to know? I have a daughter at one of these schools but I’ve never even visited the other!

I liked KEHS as my daughter preferred EHS. We don’t want to make the wrong decision so advised her that I will try to get more information and we will decide after that. My daughter is intelligent but a bit on the shy side! Lol
She's passed her 11+ however if she gets a scholarship, we are thinking of sending her to a private school. If the education system is much better at the above schools than a grammer school, we won’t go for grammar school. We don’t want to make a wrong decision.

I am very familiar with both schools. They are both fantastic and your daughter would do very well at either.

If your daughter passes to go to KEHS, I can’t really see any reason you’d send her to EHS unless financial. KEHS is more academic and has lovely facilities.

That said, the grammars are very good too. If she has passed to Camp Hill, it is just as good as either of those. Depending on which grammar school, travel could be an issue depending on where you’re based.

One difference is that everyone at KEHS is very intelligent, so your daughter would be less likely to stand out there academically, whereas at EHS there is a slightly bigger range of academic ability. Pros and cons to both of these.

Thank you. X
Grammar school would be Camp Hill.

Sounds like she is spoilt for choice!

One other consideration I thought of - both Camp Hill and KEHS are single sex but directly next door to boys schools (Camp Hill Boys and KES). This means that certain things such as drama productions and from recollection maybe orchestras and things are mixed. EHS is not next to a boys school and I’m not sure whether there is any school they have a link with at secondary level.

Again whether you see that as good or bad is a matter of opinion but just one other difference that occurred to me!

If you’re comparing grammar to the two schools you mention - it depends what you mean by the education being ‘better’. The teachers won’t be better - they all did the same training, you’ll have a mix of good and bad at any school. The curriculum will be largely the same, especially at GCSE level but you tend to get more language options at the independent schools.

Class sizes are smaller at KEHS/EHS but at KEHS they’re still around 22-24 so not tiny (the tiny classes only happen in sixth form although some options eg Greek have smaller classes for GCSE).

There’s probably a few more extracurricular clubs at the independent schools. Certainly at KEHS there’s a lot of support if you’re struggling, eg sixth form mentors, drop in sessions etc. No idea if these are so available at Camp Hill - you’d have to ask.

I guess you need to decide what your priorities are? The point about boys is a good one.

I’m new to this form and my dad recently had her interview at ehs. She is so desperate to go there. She didn’t score high enough for grammar and kehs would be too academic. The year group is only 80 and 240 sat the test how many offer letters will they send out knowing most won’t take the place. Does anyone know many people who have not been offered at this school?
