dd1's reception teacher is a complete star!

OK, I've found it really really hard since my dd1 started Reception a couple of weeks ago. I miss her, dd2 misses her, I worry about her constantly, I stress over her little books she gets for homework, I worry about whether she liked her snack at breaktime, whether she plays with anyone, whether she can keep up in class, whether she can dress herself properly after PE and don't get me started on uniform.

So when I spoke to her teacher this morning (about something very minor) I ended up bursting into tears . She was so unbelievably lovely and kind and understanding (and I felt such an idiot) I just wanted to say that there are some brilliant teachers out there. I feel so reassured and comforted after talking to her and I have no doubt that dd1 will settle in really well eventually.

So big up to all the lovely reception teachers out there

How lovely, Enid, I am so pleased for you. Lucky little girl - will you remind me about this when my dd1 starts this time next year? xx

well I am completely wet as I have found it impossibly difficult. Don't know why as I loved school myself. Anyway, she seems to be enjoying it more now and she does look gorgeous in her little uniform and they've started her on the 'reading tree' this week which she's very excited about and basically I could go on and on about it for hours but wont x E

Awwwww!

Can I add ds1's lovely Reception teacher to the list? Last term, while ds1 was still at pre-school, she not only attended lots of meetings with us to discuss ds1's transition to primary school but she also made extra trips to observe ds1 and to get to know him better.

Since he started just over 2 weeks ago she's done everything possible to make sure he enjoys school. When she knew that she would be off for a day she made sure that ds1 knew in advance and even contacted her replacement directly to make sure that they understood that ds1 might find the change difficult.

Ds1 literally bounces out of school each morning (he's still doing half-days for most of the week) with a huge grin on his face and tells me all about how much he's enjoyed himself.

Another big cheer here for Reception teachers.

Nice thread, Enid (it does get a bit easier as the year wears on).
Ds has achieved the seemingly impossible by moving from an ace Reception teacher to a Year 1 person who is just as nice but very different. He is in love with her (Mrs D is awesome, mummy - she does DRUMMING) and after Parents' Afternoon we've got a crush on her too!

My ds1 had a fab reception teacher. I worried about him as he is an august baby, so one of the youngest in the class. But he just flourished under her care. He is in year two now and I am praying she'll still be there next year when ds2 starts.

Despite my postings on the 'other thread', I am pleased to say that my DS's reception teacher is fantastic. Lovely kind approach to the children and keen to make settling in as gentle as possible for all of them.

DD1 and DS1 had the same Reception teacher who was just brilliant! Became very fond of her and we were all gutted when she left for a 2yr contract in Thailand (still there!). She has since written to them, hoping they are still enjoying school/doing well etc and came back in July to see her old classes.

DD2 just started Reception with a new teacher who started last September and again, I've heard nothing but praise from last years class. DD2 gets on very well with her and I've not got any concerns/worries with her.

In fact, thinking about all the teachers we've had (DS1 in Year 2 and DD1 in Year 4) I've yet to have one that I've not been impressed with!
