How much notice does a school get that OFSTED are going in?

If the inspection is triggered by a parent complaining to OFSTED. I received word yesterday that OFSTED will be inspecting following my complaint. The complaint was about failing to register my daughter and record her absences. OFSTED deems that it is an issue with the quality of leadership and management at the school although that might be because HT refused to answer my stage one complaint, chair of governors stage two response failed to mention the reason for my complaint but instead reassured me that the school were doing a brilliant job and I should be honoured to have a place in an OFSTED outstanding school and stage three response was simply that the complaint was handled properly and that was the end of the matter.
To be clear all I asked for from the school was an explanation as to why they didn't record my daughter's absences (140 sessions)? What procedures were in place so that it didn't happen again and an apology for their actions and for their response to my complaint I wasn't asking for blood.

Either the day before or 15 minutes before, depending on the reason for the inpsection.

Not sure of the reason letter from OFSTED states concerns of quality of leadership and management but my complaint was about failing to register dd and record her absences which is a safeguarding fail as well isn't it seeing as no referrals were made and dd was invisible for three months?

Yes, failing to register a child would be a safeguarding matter, this falls under leadership and management in the Inspection Framework.

Attendance will always come back to leadership and management and especially now on the new framework which starts in September, unless there is also a clear safeguarding issue.
I am slightly surprised that they have responded to you and said they will definitely be inspecting the school because that is not normally something that happens. Normally the first person to know about the inspection is the headteacher when they get the dreaded phone call.
Under normal circumstances the inspection will start the next morning. But given the nature of your complaint to Ofsted, it is possible that this will be a no notice inspection and the headteacher will get the phone call immediately before they walk into the school.
One of the inspection team will then immediately start to look at attendance records etc and also the complaints process in the school. There will always be a level of inspection around safeguarding and if things are unearthed around attendance etc that indicate safeguarding concerns then this could turn into a very bad inspection for the school.
It is quite possible that the actual inspection will not be for a while, so do not assume that the visit will be early September.

My school had an inspection due to a parent complaint to OFSTED. They called the HT and said, 'we're parked outside, we'll be in, in 10 minutes.
