A level distance learning

A level results day has had me thinking over the last few days. When I was 18, I failed my maths A level miserably. My other results got me a place at uni to study chemistry and I’ve done pretty well for myself since! However, my maths failure has always stuck with me, especially as I had to do maths as part of my degree and a huge chunk of what I failed to grasp at A level suddenly fell into place.

I’m now 44 and thinking of redoing maths A level by distance learning. Would I be bonkers? Can anyone recommend a good course? OOL look ok but it’s hard to tell from a website.

Thanks!

A friend has had a really poor experience with OOL. All they did was send a set of notes which were less detailed than the course textbooks. He had to book his own exam centre and it was really hard finding one that would take him as local schools don't cover that syllabus.
Independent schools and colleges are more likely to take on private candidates. I would find one in your area that does this then check which syllabus they offer. Then I would buy copies of the course textbooks and take it from there. It may be better to supplement with private tuition as needed. You can pay for a course at a later date if you want to, but once you've done so it's very hard to get your money back if you change your mind.
