Summer Maths Practice: best resources?

Two of my DC (yr 4 and 7) have come home with school reports that say that they are generally very good at understanding maths but not always achieving what they are capable of in tests/class. For different reasons, it seems that they are both making silly mistakes and not being careful enough about being accurate and methodical. For both, but especially the yr 7 who is in a competitive top set, this seems to have dented their confidence and they've internalised the 'not good at maths' message which is creating a downward spiral.

I want to do some work with them in the hols to build confidence and to make sure they have a really thorough understanding of all the work they've done so far this year and I'd really appreciate advice on the best resource (happy to spend some money). Ideally I'd like some kind of assessment which shows any problem areas so we can target them but I'm a bit concerned that online only might not match class work well (as they need to show working etc) so I'm probably looking for an online and paper resource.

I don't want to make it feel too much of a chore as I don't want them to feel that they are being 'punished' for not doing well in Maths but the yr 7 is not that fussed by online rewards now (the yr 4 probably more so).

If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.

We have a subscription to IXL which is split by year and topic. It's a useful way of refreshing what they've covered that year and making sure there are no weak areas. I don't think there's any offline work or assessments, but it might be worth a look. It's quite gentle with short modules taking just a few minutes, with rewards for how much time you've spent, how many questions you've got right, how many different topics you've covered etc.

We've not used Khan Academy but it might be more what you're looking for. You can do assessments and there are videos where new concepts are explained. It's an American site.

Thanks that's really helpful, sounds like the kind of thing I want. I am quite keen to make sure that it's based on UK curriculum if possible. There was one I tried a couple of years ago and DC1 kept getting low scores and I realised it was because they were testing based on US money!!
