Hi all. We are visiting next week and I'd love to hear any up to date views. Thanks a million.

No direct experience but two different sets of neighbours moved their sons there in September and have been very happy with the school. Neither family is catholic and were a bit nervous that it might be too catholic for them but apparently it's been absolutely fine.

Sorry that's not much to go on but I didn't want your post to go unanswered!! Hope your visit goes well!

Oh @Xiaoxiong you're always there for me - thank you! Smile As you know, we're registered at Papplewick too and I think that's the favourite hut looking st SJB as an alternative next week :)

Jelly wish I could be of more direct help, as you know we looked at Papplewick and Lambrook and it was just such a good fit for us at Papplewick that we didn't go further (and maybe see you there one day!) but if we had, SJB would have been next on our list to visit and Caldecott, also St George's Windsor is on the up with a new head really charging hard at raising standards and exit schools which I'm sure will feed through in the years to come. We have neighbours with boys (and girls) at all those schools so you do hear the chat!!

Yes Lambrook is number 3 for me. Looks really lovely. But I'm not really wanting coed at this stage. Caldicott is also on the list to view. SJB doesn't have the compulsory boarding in Yrs 7 and 8 which I still need to get my head around for Papplewick Wink

Update - we went to visit and really loved it. Just a great vibe to the place. Still really interested to hear from current or recent parents if anyone's out there.

our son started in reception this September and loves it. Visited two years in a row for open days and felt good and right both times. Had family meeting with the head teacher followed by son's trial session, which he enjoyed. Over the past term we've seen a massive progress -reading, communication, writing and he loves going to school every day. Good discipline in class (and boys listen!) and what we liked is that staff is down to earth including the head teacher. Lots of activities on offer after school. DS definitely shows a lot of curiosity to do and try new things since started.

Couldn't recommend SJB more, but all depends on your son and whether boys or co-ed suits best. We've come all the way from only wanting co-ed (as also have a little daughter) to realizing that single sex education would be best for our son. It was big decision and we've seen few co-ed and boys only schools around. Lambrook is close and has good results, however, for us felt very pretentious. St Georges in Windsor was just average, liked Papplewick (only from 6yrs with compulsory boarding in the final year) felt somewhat similar to SJB - walking distance for us, but wouldn't change just for the commute.

We've recently moved to ascot, one of the reasons to be closer but not to live under the airplane path. Journey time anything 20-40 min each way. Mostly its an easy drive through Windsor Great park - the busiest part is though old Windsor, but there are couple of routes around.
