Testing your child's DNA IQ

Following on from this article if we just tested children we could steer them at a young age towards their abilities. Who else would be happy to take these tests?

I’d hate to have my children’s DNA tested for intelligence. Children don’t just pop out of an egg - they benefit from the time their parents spend with them, the books they read, the instruments they learn to play, the sport they play.

People who send their kids to Eton don’t do so solely for academics.

My suspicion is that the professor would not be impressed by this article.

It seems to me that he is saying that children can reach their academic potential in non-selective educational environments, so parents mustn't worry so much.

I admit I would be curious to know what their potential is, but I would never tell them either way as I think it would really limit their willingness to work hard. I can imagine very little that would kill a growth mindset faster than being told that your genes have already predestined you for success or failure.

I think the DNA can only show capacity and many others factors will throughout their childhood influence attainment.
