Hello there, I have never started a thread before, so apologise if this is not in the right place etc, I am a bit clueless. Anyhow I am wondering if anyone can tell me where I can find copies of the clic levels 11 and 12. My son has dyspraxia and spd, he is a very bright boy but struggles with tests and pressure and is very distracted, if I can help him at home and get a head start on work they are going to teach him that day then all is fine, but this clic test is like a top secret operation in my son's school and they like to keep it all quiet. My son has been in level 11 for over 2years and every week he rushes through it, he may have 2 weeks of getting questions right but guaranteed by the 3rd week he will get the odd one wrong which he has had right for weeks, he is finding this ever so frustrating and would like to practice at home, but the only ones I can see in the internet when I googled them were the older edition. Ideally I would love to get him practicing level 12 so he is ready for that when the time comes but I just can't find them anywhere. I am not sure whether these tests really matter but my son wants to do well in them and I feel his confidence is constantly getting knocked so if I can help I will so if anyone knows where j can get my hands on these papers I would very much appreciate it. Smile

I had never heard of it, so also searched out of curiosity and this came up on a school's website?

There are only 10 tests in each level and it’s really counterproductive for your child and his teacher if you try to “cheat” the system by coaching him. I presume the school are keeping them secret because they don’t want that. Rather than undermine your school’s approach, why don’t you book a meeting with the teacher to discuss your concerns.

Yes I have spoken with the school, unfortunately the school my son is in, as i am finding out now, is rather unsupportive or my child's needs due to his dyspraxia, spd and other anxiety issues this way of teaching doesnt really help my child, he finds the constant tests and constantly being timed rather stressful and he knows how to do the sums as his teacher says herself so it is frustrating that he gets so close to moving up then gets one wrong due to being distracted or just rushing through it as he has done it so many times, he will be on this level forever!

There are ten tests different at each level so that your child gets a different test for ten weeks then revisits test 1 ... moving onto the next level when they consistently get all questions right.
I'd say coaching would be welcomed by the teacher as long as your child isn't just trying to memorise the answers.

You mention being timed so do you mean the Learn it tests rather than CLIC?

The reason you can’t find the tests online is that they are part of a (very expensive!) scheme, and if they published them online people wouldn’t pay for the scheme!

I’d imagine his teacher is desperate to get him to move up, especially as he’s been on it so long. When I taught using this scheme, we would have a session each week focused on teaching the question types each child got wrong, to help them progress through the levels (and learn, obviously...) Have you asked his teacher what question types he gets wrong? If I were his teacher, I’d give you an example of each question type on the test, highlighting ones he often gets wrong, you could then use this to generate new questions of that type.

Eg is question 1 is something like 245+732, you can easily make up your own questions to practice that at home.

Good luck...this scheme has positives and negatives. It is good at instilling fluency in he basics, but some children do get very anxious about being stuck on a level and flustered about the timing.
