Kings, Bruton - academic standard?

Does anyone have any direct (or nearly direct!) experience of Kings Bruton's (Somerset) academic standards please? It seems to have a slight reputation as "not the highest academic standard", but I wonder if that is because it doesn't chase after the highly-tutored children in the way others do, and accepts a broader range of children to the possible detriment of its ratings? In other words, if you are a reasonably bright child, are you likely to be taught and stimulated to a sufficient standard to get a similarly high set of results at the end?!
Thank you!

it's not selective so I believe it gets a broad range of abilities. We haven't started there yet but feel it's the right fit for my son who is above average but needs a nurturing environment.

Thank you. Anyone else with comments?!

There might be a good better response on the Bruton Facebook page.

Good idea - though I am not certain whether people would wish to make comments about this subject so publicly (I assume everyone on that facebook page are current or recent parents, and many will know each other, so perhaps might be less willing to speak out! Whereas here everyone is anonymous...)

I had a few private messages sent to me. Actually parents were very open and honest.

The results of both Kings Bruton and BSG are lower than the results of Sexeys, which is the local comprehensive (although the intake isn’t entirely representative because of the boarding element).

So you need to be clear what you’re paying for and whe5her you feel it’s worth it.

My local secondary is full for September and though its results are some of the best in the area it's such a large school it's very easy to get lost in the system. If it's down to money or lack of and your child is bright then state is a good option. If you can get in.Smile
