Hi,
I have a mildly dyslexic boy who has been in a fairly academic prep school, but always sitting near the bottom of the sets. He is very sporty and very chatty!
Any advice of knowledge on either school would be amazing.
Many thanks!

Does he have a place at both, or our you just considering them for later? Churchers is a lot more academic than Seaford.

Well done to him.
From what i know they are very different schools, at a very different cost! I know kids who are very happy at both. When my son was at prep school (recent!) on the whole the ones with extra learning needs such as dyslexia went to Seaford as it is known for having a very good set up for this. Seaford is very good at rugby if that's one of his sports!
Churchers is more academic, perhaps you could ask where he sat in the entrance exam to give you an idea. Churchers have a minimum GCSE result to be able to continue into sixth form, its not automatic.
I know so many kids who love Churchers, sporty, non-sporty, musical...Seaford gets very expensive at year 9......

Thank you so much for your feedback. I appreciate it. Very useful info. I wonder why there is such a price difference between them.

Seaford would need a lot of gardeners!

Current Churchers Parent here - the Curriculum Support teacher at Churchers is excellent. My DS1 has mild dyspraxia and sees her weekly for English support. Your DS wouldn’t have been given a place if the school did not think he could cope with the academic side. As I’m sure you are aware it is an academic environment. You could always telephone Linda Blackman at Churchers for a chat ( Curriculum Support teacher - she’s lovely). My DS2 has just joined in 1st year and she’s keeping an eye on him too!

At Churchers communication is excellent. Any issues we’ve had are quickly sorted. The form teachers really know the kids. The headmaster gets to know kids in the Junior school and teaches them all Study Skills in first year, thus getting to know new pupils. He also referees rugby on a Saturday regularly.

Have friends whose children are at/ have been through Seaford. Seaford believe in challenging yourself - not worrying what others are doing. They have children with a wider range of SEN than Churchers, which is mainly Dyslexia/ dyspraxia, and cater for a wider range of ability. Having said that the exam results over the past 2/3 years have been great.

I could bang on for hours about how fab Churchers is. My DS1 is flying - just received great mock GCSE results and had thorough feedback at parents evening about where to focus revision. Message me if you want more info/ have questions
